My Year Ender Post

2014 was a great year for me. There were some downs but there were definitely some ups. This year, I’ll make sure that it’s gonna be better. At least I’ll try to make it as my year. It has to be and it will be. I guess the first thing is to have hope in my heart and have optimism that everything that I would like to happen will come true. Sometimes you have to condition your mind and say to yourself that these things are bound to happen and it will. Most of the time it works. You know what they say, ‘Mind over matter’.

Before 2015 starts, I listed some things that I would want to happen. This is like my own version of my New Year’s resolution.

HAVE MORE CONFIDENCE// For the past year, I can say that I have gained more confidence. I’ve learned to do things on my own without help from my friends, cousins or family. I know it’s just little things that you normally do in life but to me, who’s been painfully shy growing up, It’s such a big deal. I’m still the same me but I’ve manage to actually try doing things. I hope this year, I will be more confident and bold enough when it comes to decision making, socializing, and doing what I want.

BE MORE INDEPENDENT// I want to be independent from my family. I couldn’t thank them enough for their support but this year, I want to be financially independent. I want to feel what it’s like to finally give something back to them from your own hard work and at the same time, making money for yourself too.

BE AN EXPAT// Hopefully my plan to study in Sydney will push through. I wonder how it feels like to live in another country without your own family. I’m so excited by the thought that my decision is finally. It will help me grow and this experience will teach me a lot.

BUILD MY CAREER// I thought of this for a billionth time if my chosen career really is for me. I’ve been through a lot with this major and been having doubts but I do believe that this really is for me. Sure it’s hard but I’ll be enjoying learning new things and helping people. It feels amazing when you finally get to that point where you realize that I’ve surpassed all the challenges. There will be more for sure but I know I can do it.

FIND A JOB// I haven’t really had a job that actually pays since I graduated from college. I’ve been a nurse here and there but only for experience and training. I’m also working as a freelance online. I like it but the salary isn’t really constant. This year, I’ll find a job that actually pays. I don’t know what it is yet but I’ll find something. Hopefully when the holidays are over. I want to spend more time with my family and my cousins who are having their vacation here.

TRAVEL MORE// 2014 was a one hell of a year for me when it comes to traveling. This year has been the best! i hope next year will be better. That’s my number one on my bucket list: to see the world.

FALL IN LOVE// I’ve been single for what? Like a year already. I’ve fallen in love when I was single but I guess it’s just merely an admiration for someone or more likely I’ve fallen in love with the idea of falling in love. It didn’t work out. You see, I’m such a hopeless romantic. Blame movies and books that I’ve read. I’ll make sure this year when I finally jump into a relationship, that it’s the right guy. Sure love is a gamble but you know in your heart what you’re feeling. I guess you just have to take the chance.

BLOG MORE// Moving on a different platform is the best thing I’ve done blog-wise. I’ve gained more readers, made friends and I finally told everyone including friends and family that yes, I do have a blog and it’s a personal one. I hope to blog more this year even though I’ll be busy.

READ A LOT// I’ve read a lot of books this year. Some of the books has greatly influenced me on the way I see and think of things in a good way. I’ll be reading a lot more next year. I’ll always be a book worm.

GAIN SOME NEW FRIENDS// Before I was really shy to meet new people but I realized that it’s a great feeling meeting new ones and keeping them as friends. You have to let people know how amazing you are. It’s a great feeling knowing someone knows you.

GET I TOUCH WITH MY CREATIVE SOUL// I can do that through blogging. I haven’t gotten in touched with my photography skills this year but hopefully next year will be different. I can see myself getting into more of iPhoneography skills but I’ll always bring my camera with me. I would also like to try lettering and painting. I’ve started but I want to learn more. Oh and yeah, I would like to write more poetry, proses, and creative stories.

LEARN TO COOK AND BAKE// I always say this every year but I haven’t gotten really into it. I hope this year will be different. I have learned so much from cooking shows but never really get to do it hands on.

BE LESS ANXIOUS// I’ve been so anxious lately. I guess change is making me nervous. It’s part of growing up and I have learned how to deal with it. I just wish that this feeling will be replaced by excitement.

I know these things cannot come true without hard work and dedication. I should have to believe in myself and focus on these things that I would want to happen. And it will. It will πŸ™‚

I’d like to blog more on 2015, too! Though it’s hard to imagine that cos my grades would be at stake if I prioritize blogging. I hope I can find ways to manage my time between the two.

Alissa, Happy New Year! I wish you all the best in 2015 and onwards. You have amazing goals and I know you will surpass them if you put your heart and mind to it.

If I can push you and push you some more to do one of the goals in your list, it is to have the opportunity to work and live abroad, be it permanently or for a few years and then go back home. The experience of being independent, immersing yourself in other cultures and being open with what the world has in store for you is something that will make you stronger and a better person! Good luck!

It really is the hardest part, being away from your family and living on your own. I am an only child and when I decided to leave the country, it was hard too because I’m so used to seeing my parents everyday.

Thank God for technology now that it’s so easy to connect with them on a daily basis! Good luck!

I believe that you can achieve all things in this year’s resolution. Being an expat will help you gain more confidence and ultimately become more independent since you thrive to survive by yourself in another country. My new year’s resolutions are also to read more books, work out more in the gym, and fall in love again.
