How To Spend Valentine’s Day When Your Love is Away

Count yourself lucky if you get to spend Valentine’s day together but not all couples has the privilege to be together on this special day. They may be away at work, have something to do some place else, or they just can’t simply be there for you due to some circumstances but no worries, there are other ways to let you know you love them even from afar.

Instead of the usual sweet text messages, why not make them a card or a scrapbook? Be creative, let those emotions flow through using words. It’s not always you get to make something from your hands so go ahead and do this. Then snail mail it to him. Guys like those kind of things too.

Don’t let distance ruin this special day. You can still have a date through Skype or any video calling app! Set up a nice dinner with candle if you want and you can both eat together. Even though one of you is just on the screen, it will still feel like you’re really together. Make the best out of your situation. Ask her for a Skype date 🙂

Who doesn’t want to receive flowers on this special day? You can do that now without you having to give it to her personally. I ran into Petalier on Instagram and they have the best looking flowers out there. You can contact them and send them to your love. If she’s not into flowers, why not order a pizza for her or send some chocolate or teddy bears?

Watch a movie together online. Stream movies or tv shows at the same time so it feels like you’re really watching together. Couple it with a video call and you’ll see and hear each other’s reactions and commentaries. Too bad though you can’t cuddle but hey, at least you guys made an effort to do this together.

Make a playlist or a mixtape with songs that remind you of your love one and send it to him or her. That way, he or she can play it whenever they misses you. This is my playlist just in case you need some ideas or if you just wanna feel loved.

Don’t let miles hinder a surprise. Talk to her closest friend, cousins or family who’s near her and plan the surprise together. Talk them into decorating her room along with some gifts, flowers or chocolates from you. I hope guys can read this post cuz I guarantee you, every girl would love this. I know I would. *wink *wink lol. And put a laptop on her bed with you on Skype and tell her how much you love her.

Spending Valentine’s Day doesn’t require you to spend a lot. Actually, it’s the effort that counts the most. Have a Happy Valentine’s Day! Who will you spend it with?

Who says writing letters for your loved ones is too old fashioned? Oh well, they’re totally wrong. In this digital era, written letters are highly appreciated than receiving a ton of messages online.

I would probably spend it with my better half or probably at home, alone while making the most of my day off. Oh well. Happy Valentines Day to you, Alissa.

Happy Valentine’s Day! These are great ideas, and honestly, I might spend Valentine’s Day in the room, watching romantic movies because my boyfriend isn’t really into couple’s day. Sad.

Aw, I’ll be spending my Valentine’s Day sick at work, haha. Then come home and have some soup with the boyfriend.

But I know how it feels to have Valentine’s Day with someone across the ocean. This list is right on point to make it work! You can also order that person pizza too, hehe!

Happy Valentine’s Day, Ate Alissa! I don’t have a significant other to share this day at the moment, but I’ve got my family to celebrate it with. <3 We just got back from Tagaytay wherein we enjoyed our little moments.
P.S. That black and white set of flowers looks so promising. Haha!

I saw YAAASSS to everything you listed down, except for the flowers part! I don’t like flowers. Jorge and I used to write letters to each other too! And sometimes, we get a little creative as well! Skype-Movie date is a must and who hates surprises? My best surprise was the day Jorge proposed to me. 🙂

So sweet! 🙂 haha I would love to receive flowers but it would be awkward for me if he gives it to me in public and I would carry it everywhere until I get home. Delivery is good though haha

Ed Sheeran songs are the best. The lyrics can speak for itself.

Gerald and I have been in an LDR for around 4-5 years and we haven’t celebrated Valentine’s Day during those years, but we always make up to each other when we see each other. We also only see each other or about 2-3 times a year haha and that would only last around 5-8 hours strolling around the mall hahaha

These ideas work best for those who are countries apart. I somehow know the feeling of being away from your love one especially on these occasions. I hope you’ve enjoyed your Valentine’s Day, Alissa! With our technology now, there’s almost nothing impossible when it comes to communication. 🙂

Aww you guys are sweet! 🙂 Sadly I didn’t get any of those mentioned this Valentine’s day. haha. I would rather be alone anyway than spending it with the wrong guy so all is good. 🙂 Glad you’re not LDR right now. That’s tough

Aww, it was such a lovely post. Nothing can beat the good ol’ hand-written notes & letters. The idea of Petalier is wonderful. How great it would be to send flowers this way!!!!!!

It’s like maison d fleur or something like that. Their flowers and how they arrange it is beautiful!

When my husband and I were in an LDR for a year, we watched a lot of movies together. We’d make comments on Skype while we watched. It definitely helped up stay closer. 😀
