How I Gained Instagram Followers By Using Hashtags

In order to be an efficient blogger, one must have an account on every popular social media app out there. Facebook, Twitter, and of course, Instagram. I’m pretty sure most of you are already have those three. If not, then you probably should. I mainly use those for self-expression but other bloggers have success on promoting their blog posts there, even if it just includes a link to their website on their bio. And what better way to reach an audience but with hashtags?

It does not only let people stumble on your account, it also helps them to find the same type of accounts according to their niche, and putting hashtags also helps you gain followers. I know I did. I gained 500 new followers by using hashtags effectively. It’s not a lot but it is for me. In this post, I’m gonna list some according to each type of photo.

I know most of you are iffy about using hashtags but know that it is okay. You can add them on the first comment or on the caption itself after a series of bullets, which I do. Only use hashtags that are appropriate for the photo. You can also use these to find accounts to engage to. The real key to having followers is not only by using hashtags but to also engage and to have good content. Happy gramming!

This is such a helpful post, Alissa! I’m not sure how I’m going to expand my blog’s IG account and or how I can ‘get it out there’. But I’m definitely going to keep these hashtags in mind. Better up my photo taking game first. Thanks for sharing 🙂

You’re welcome. 🙂 the number of followers doesn’t really matter but sadly numbers matter to brands if you’re looking forward to working with them. It’s a great way to discover other blogs too.

Oh if that’s the case, then you don’t need to use hashtags. It’s a great way to discover other bloggers, though. 🙂

That is awesome that you were able to gain that many followers with a simple tool. As a blogger I only use twitter but I don’t care how many views my blog gets. They fade anyway. What is popular today is boring the next so my time will come eventually or never. I don’t care.

This is a good post for those people trying to get views to their website. Thanks for the tips!

this sounds like a useful tip for people who enjoy using hashtags and abusing them – not that i have anything against those who do because you do you, right. it’s just not for me, i guess. i once used quite a lot of hashtags so i could get more recognition because i wanted to be a photographer at one point (like, you know…those instagram accounts with awesome photography feed and with tons of followers) but then i gave up because it’s not something that fits my frenzy and i hate how i look like i’m so desperate for Likes 😛
these are useful hashtags though because imo they’re more…relatable(?) instead of something as…desperate as#likesforlikes or #followforlikes , if that makes sense. again, no offense for people who use lots of hashtags.

I’ve been experimenting with using them. So far, it has been great. I get some clicks on my blog link I left on my Instagram bio when using those hashtags. It’s good if you want to drive traffic to your site or if you’re serious about blogging and wanted to be discovered by other bloggers as well. I agree with #likes4likes being kind of desperate, though.

I bet there are good quality blogs and IG accounts who use such tags too. Hm how do i word this… It’s like finding a hidden gem among the haystack (yes, i tweaked the quote) for instance, if i search through one of your tags, i might find your IG and your blog which is lucky me because i get to discover a cool account but people abuse tags every day and sometimes that makes it a lot more easier to find crappy accounts and we gotta dig to find something that provides quality. It’s kind of a grey area imo. Tags can be helpful but they can also be something used by desperate people so yeah, maybe that’s why i refuse to use lots of tags, to avoid sounding desperate lol

Really interesting! I use a maximum of 6 on one photo, but I do really like hashtags! 🙂

I was afraid of hashtags because I see a lot of people using them without the right content. Ugh, it really pisses me off when I’m looking for #bbloggers and I see an unrelated post! USE HASHTAGS RESPONSIBLY, KIDS.
