12 Things I’ve Learned When I Was 22

It’s gonna be my 23rd birthday on the 30th which is gonna be tomorrow in my time and this is gonna be my last post of being 22 so I decided to make a list of the things I’ve learned when I was 22.

My 22nd year on this earth sure was a roller coaster. It was a mix of love, drama, happiness, and sadness. It was everything and I’ve learned so many things from the past year of my existence. Here are some:

  1. It’s okay to make a decision even if it’s the wrong one. The most important thing about it is, you learned from it.
  2. Sometimes some people doesn’t deserve second chances. You have to listen to your brain and instinct, not just your heart.
  3. Feeling unmotivated and lost in the uncertainty of life is the worst feeling ever. You just have to pick yourself up again and get yourself inspired.
  4. Being single isn’t so bad after all. It helps me to come out in my comfort zone and be more independent.
  5. Traveling is not just stepping in a new place. It made me appreciate life even more.
  6. The best way to love yourself is to accept yourself. I’ve learned to embrace my being an introvert even if I sometimes hate it.
  7. It feels great opening up to people and burning your walls down even if it’s not easy. Let people see how wonderful you are.
  8. A great friend doesn’t have to be someone you know in real life. They could be miles away and behind a screen but they’re always there for you.
  9. Being single allows people to like you and it feels great being appreciated or admired even if it’s just a crush.
  10. Life can be harsh but the challenge is to face it, do something about it and learn from it.
  11. Time really does heals everything. Looking back, I just laugh about the things that happened and appreciate the happy memories instead of being bitter and holding grudges.
  12. Even if you’ve been hurt, it’s okay to open your heart once again. It’s okay to like someone. You deserve to love and be loved.

I relate to a lot of these lessons that you have learned. I’m still figuring out #12 – I want to love someone again, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that person will truly appreciate me or prioritize me, much like my ex. I think it’s also a matter of being more selective with who you choose to open your heart to.

I agree. Sometimes I tend like someone and it hurts when they don’t like you back the way you want them to but still it’s a great feeling as long as you know where you stand. 🙂

Happy birthday, Alissa! Wow I can relate to all of these! (since we are of the same age bracket) Especially #3 & #10. As we grow older, we face a lot of challenges and we have more responsibilites, but that’s what makes life interesting and stops us from being stagnant. Ultimately, we become stronger too! Life with no challenges = a boring life. So, I wish you abundant happiness and love. May all your dreams become a reality. 🙂

PS I might make a similar post since my birthday is after yours, Oct. 1. Haha!

    I don’t use bloglovin btw. 🙂

Happy birthday! I just turned 21 a few weeks ago. Lately I’ve been feeling very overwhelmed and certainly lost in uncertainty… but everyone says to just go with the flow, and so it’s a bit reassuring to hear that I’m not the only one with this issue!

First of all, Happy Happy Birthday! It sounds like 22 was a hell of a year–I assure you that all of the things you’ve learned though are going to be so beneficial. Although it can be painful, it’s better to learn these things earlier so you have the knowledge with you for the rest of your life 🙂

I hope 23 brings wonderful things!
