10 Things I’ve Realized When I Was 24

A few more days left and I would be a year older. It’s crazy to think that I would be 25 years old when it feels like it was just yesterday when I wrote this post. Nothing has really changed physically but I sure did learn a lot of lessons being 24. Here are just some of the things I have learned:

  1. Things that happened in the past, may it be good or bad, happen for a reason.
  2. Timing is everything. Things might not happen the way you want it to be, but maybe it’s not the time yet, maybe there are better things out there. Just don’t get discouraged.
  3. Sometimes, a broken heart will lead you to the right person. To the kind of love you really deserve.
  4. Comparing yourself to others doesn’t help to rise your spirit. Remember that each of us has our own timeline. Just do what you have to do and things will fall into place, at the right time.
  5. You just have to trust the universe. The universe, I believe, leads us to exactly where we are supposed to be if we just listen.
  6. The best thing to invest while you are still young, is in travel. It does not only mean that you get to see the place, you also get to experience beyond that.
  7. No matter how life treats us, always be kind. A simple act of kindness can have a great impact on someone’s day, or maybe even their lifetime.
  8. Courage is not the absence of fear. Just don’t be paralyzed by it. Make it a fuel to do the things you have to do.
  9. Not everything has to be in social media. Keep some things private. The best moments, I believe fail to be documented cos you’re too busy living in the moment. Plus, it’s nice to have something to keep just for yourself and for your partner.
  10. Surround yourself with positive people. Ones who radiate energy that nourishes your growth. We don’t need negativity in our life.

#4 is on point! I am honestly guilty about comparing myself to others and even until now, I still do it. I guess it’s human nature? Pero there are times I snap out of my insecurity then I move forward. Minsan hindi lang talaga mapigilan na macompare ang self mo to others. Minsan nag aaway kami ng partner ko because of this. LOL

Hail to #1! If it was good, then it’s added experience. If it’s bad, still an experience + a lesson! Amen to that. 🙂

Ah #8, I think I am so afraid of failing that I end up not doing the things that I should be doing like starting on that personal project that I have been thinking a lot about. I guess I need to accept that fear. These are great realizations 🙂 thanks for sharing them.

I’m really gulty of #4 and #10. Sometimes I let negativity overcome me and sometimes i think i radiate negativity to others. But i’m working on it. Dealing with bipolar is hard but i’m trying my best to be better.
Thanks for sharing, Ali. How are you? It’s been awhile..

Were about the same age! I will be turning 25 in about two months from now. I love the last statements on your list #8, #9 and #10. I fear a lot of things and that’s what keeps me from doing things I need to. Yes! Not everything is shareable in the cyber world. Lastly, being together with happy people will make things a lot better.

Great post 🙂 I especially like number 7. Being kind will change your attitude about your life and make others feel good, particularly when they have it rough. Thanks for sharing your words of wisdom!

I love your list and can relate to all of these.
Sadly these things, in the moment, are not always as clear.
#9 Is sometimes easy to forget for me. Especially for a blogger/instagramer….no technically, for anyone.
And sometimes I get a bit upset when I forget to snap a photo to capture the memory of the amazing (insert event here).
I need to work on not worrying about that. I also hope to be more positive, I definitely want to be the type of person others like to have around. 🙂
